Hi everyone,
for those of you with a
little extra time on your hands, and who may feel a little rusty on the
very basics of hypothesis testing, you may want to look through these
slides to remind yourselves a little.

The relevant bits are ~first half of the Probability 1 talk (the part that introduces and explains the concept of a stochastic variable, stop when you see a slide saying "Maximum-Likelihood Estimation") and all of Statistics 1. They are very basic, and I don't think it would take long to browse through them.
