In this talk we will discuss the application of compressed sensing (CS) theory to accelerated MRI acquisition. Starting from the basics of CS, we will consider how this provides motivation for a accelerated acquisition. What it says about how to sample and reconstruct and also, crucially, what it does not tell us. Illustration of the techniques in practice will be given based on two ongoing investigations at the University of Edinburgh: accelerated region of interest dynamic MRI and accelerated 3D brain imaging.
