Some things you didn't know about the medial prefrontal cortex
Although the principal role of all brain systems is the generation of resting activity, some brain regions are also recruited (albeit to a much more minor degree) when subjects are engaged in specific behaviours. I will examine this idea in the context of the most famous resting state network, the "default mode". Intriguingly, we find that the region is necessary to support behaviours that are more complex than rest.
